The exquisitely carved figurine is made from the finest sandalwood by expert artisans. The mastery of the sculptor is seen in the intricate filigree work and the expressive features that come alive on the rich gold sandalwood.

Lord Vishnu is regarded as a major god in Hinduism and Indian mythology. He is thought as the preserver of the universe while two other major Hindu gods Brahma and Shiva are regarded respectively, as the creator and destroyer of the universe. He is said to be the cosmic ocean Nara, meaning water, which was the only thing in existence before the creation of the universe. For this reason, he is also known as Narayana, or "one who moves on the waters". The dark color of the Lord represents the passive and formless ether, a great quality for a pervading god. He rests on the bed of the powerful, coiled serpent, Seshanag in the Ksheersagar, or the Ocean of Milk.

Lord Sheshnag depicted is the divine serpent with thousand heads. According to Hindu Mythology, the world rests on the hoods of Lord Sheshnaga, and when he shakes his head, there are earthquakes. He is also known as Ananta (eternal) since he is immortal and is not affected by death even during the destruction of the Universe. Lord Sheshnag is also considered to be the soul of Lord Vishnu when he incarnated as Lord Balaram. Lord Vishnu is also known as Hari, the remover. Lord Vishnu's consort is Goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth. She is believed to have emerged from the samudra manthan, and considered to be the daughter of Bhrigu and Khyati.
