Krishna and Arjuna

SKU : GK23

The exquisitely carved figurine is made from the finest sandalwood by expert artisans. The mastery of the sculptor is seen in the intricate filigree work and the expressive features that come alive on the rich gold sandalwood, mounted aesthetically on a solid base of pure rosewood.

The foundation of this masterpiece is the intricate chariot. It has large back wheels and smaller front wheels. Krishna is seated on the front of the chariot turning to speak with Arjuna about his duty as a warrior. Arjuna is kneeling with his hands clasp in adoration of his revered friend Lord Krishna. Arjuna is surrounded by 4 columns that support a large roof that covers both Arjuna and Krishna. The front of the roof has a small Hanuman bearing a battle flag.

The piece would be the perfect centerpiece for a temple. Its size and beauty should be admired by as many people as possible. It is a truly inspiring statue and the ecstatic workmanship reflects the creativity of our craftsmen and their quest for achieving artistic perfection.

Arjuna was a master archer and played a central role in the conflict between the Pandavas and their adversaries, the sons of Dhritarashtra known as the Kauravas. Arjuna was reluctant to take part in battle because he knew he would wind up killing most of his adversaries which included many of his own relatives. He was persuaded by his charioteer and close friend Lord Krishna, to change his mind. Their dialogue which is the subject of the Bhagavad-Gita was centered on a warrior’s duty or dharma, the nature of human life and the soul, and the role of gods. Krishna persuades Arjuna to follow his dharma and uphold the moral code of a warrior and to fight even if it is against his own relatives.
