The exquisitely carved figurine of Lord Krishna is crafted from the purest and finest sandalwood by expert craftsmen. The mastery of the sculptor is seen in the intricate filigree work and expressive features that seem to come alive on the rich golden hues of the fragrant sandalwood, mounted on a solid pedestal of pure rosewood.
Lord Krishna is believed to have been incarnated on earth to establish the religion of Love, to re-establish Righteousness and vanquish evil. Murali Krishna is a popular manifestation of the Lord, depicted in his favorite pose, wearing peacock feathers in his hair and playing cosmic music on his flute. The tales of Krishna who attracted the beautiful Gopikas with the heavenly notes of his flute have inspired poets and philosophers down the ages. The close ties between the Gopikas and Krishna is symbolic of the union between the atman (soul) and Paramatman (the supreme consciousness).
As the earth became overrun by militaristic activities of these kingly demons, the demigods including the Earth goddess earnestly sought Lord Vishnu’s protection. Seeing the deteriorating social and political conditions and hearing the prayers of the demigods, the all-compassionate Supreme Lord Sri Krishna decided to descend for the benefit of all.
The Supreme Lord descends from time to time in this material world to reestablish the teachings of the Vedas. In his Bhagavad-Gita, Lord Krishna promises: "Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bharata, and a predominant rise of irreligion--at that time I descend myself. To deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I myself appear millennium after millennium."
Maintenance Tips:
Keep indoors. Lightly dust the figurine as required. We recommend the use of a mild wood cleaner on a swab of cotton wool to give a fresh look.
