Standing Buddha

SKU : GO5

The tranquil figurine of Lord Buddha is deftly crafted from the finest sandalwood and is truly a masterpiece. The skill of the sculptures is evident in the languid drape of the Buddha’s simple robe and the serenity that the statue exudes.

Founder of Buddhism, Gautama Buddha was a philosopher, teacher and religious leader who lived in ancient India. In most Buddhist traditions, he is regarded as the Supreme Buddha (Sammāsambuddha) of our age, "Buddha" meaning "awakened one" or "the enlightened one."

Standing serenely on a fully bloomed Lotus, the Buddha is portrayed in the classic pose of blessing. The fully blossomed Lotus signifies purity and divine birth. The simple monastic robe that he wears represents the Buddha's humility. His right arm is shown extended downwards, with the open palm turned to the front and the fingers extended. This 'mudrā’ is usually associated with the standing Buddha and signifies that the Buddha is granting/ receiving charitable offerings. The left hand holds an unopened lotus, symbolizing the fact that the heart of all beings is like an unopened lotus and only when the virtues of the Buddha develop therein does the lotus blossom.
